To boldly go...!

wiiSPACE is a great new kids club resource for Gravesend, here to help churches to engage as effectively as possible with the children and youth in our communities.  CPC has bought/made available the following consoles (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) along with video projectors, speakers each in a box each with a pull up screen.  In addition we have a fourth box which has 2 PS2’s and individual screens which can be setup, plus a ‘Space is here banner’ and a ‘Unite’ banner which can be used as well.

We currently use this equipment on a Thursday night at Westcourt Primary School for 5 weeks a school term alongside sports, craft and tuck to make a 90minute kids club (which will gradually increase age group into youth as well) reaching between 35-50 kids per week.  This represents over £4000 worth equipment and is a resource that should be used!  It is accessible from CPC base camp, but is available to collect at almost any time.  All that we are looking for is that churches who use the equipment contribute towards upkeep / new games to keep things relevant and take care of the equipment when they use it.

Don’t fear if this tech is alien to you the first time any church uses the equipment we’ll make sure that people are there to help setup/run the equipment and after that there are laminated guides in the boxes.  But best of all just find a teen or even pre-teen and they will set it up quicker than any adult and have it going in no time!

I dream of seeing a network of ‘Space’ kids/youth clubs operating across Gravesend that we can then centrally promote through the various assemblies and presentations that churches/children’s ministries do.  CPC covers about 15 different schools and would love to promote the local club in each school we attend.  The equipment can also be used for social events, we have one for dads and their kids borrowing some ‘retro’ consoles so that we can engage the dads with their kids in both the church and community!

If you want to find out more about the equipment or chat about the possibility of launching your own 'Space' kids or youth club please contact Graeme Baldwin.
